Step 1 — Create Your Backup

1Connect your iPhone to your Mac with a USB cable

2Open Finder and select your iPhone in the sidebar

3Make sure "Encrypt local backup" is unchecked

4Click "Back Up Now" and wait for it to finish

Step 2 — Select the Backup Folder

Open Finder on your Mac

Press these keys together:

Cmd + Shift + GA "Go to Folder" box will pop up

Copy this path and paste it into that box:

Press Enter — you'll see one or more folders with long random names (like "ab3c9d8e1f..."). These are your backups.

Click "Select backup folder" above, then choose the most recent backup folder (sort by Date Modified if needed). The app will automatically find your messages, resolve contact names, and load images.

You can also import messages from these apps after extracting your iPhone backup. Here's how to export from each one.

How to Export from WhatsApp

Open WhatsApp and go to the chat you want to export

Tap the contact or group name at the top to open Chat Info

Scroll down and tap "Export Chat"

On Android: tap the three-dot menu (⋮) → More → Export chat

Choose "Without Media"

This creates a smaller .txt file with just the text messages

Save or share the .txt file to your computer

You can AirDrop, email, or save to Files/Google Drive

Upload the .txt file here

Each chat must be exported separately. The file will be named like "WhatsApp Chat with John.txt". You can repeat this process for multiple chats.
